Wafuken

OHAI. I'm alive again.

***

Been really lazy this first half of 2016. Told myself to really keep up with this space and yet here I am again neglecting it from days to weeks and now, been months since.

Right. So I haven't really been going to cafes as much as I would compared to the past. And unfortunately, I haven't been out of Singapore either - so no travelogues too.

I've made plans for the second half of the year and I really can't wait to share my travelogue once I'm done with it. As for now, my time is very much spent on watching animes, dramas and... yeah, the usual. Work, eat, sleep, watch anime and repeat.

Been watching quite a bit of animes (well, I used to watch more back in school days then I stopped and now I'm back on it). Finished at least 10 of them in the past few months and slowly becoming a closet otaku (ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ).

Anyway, personal life aside, here's a really good Japanese don I had months back and trust me, it's really awesome. Just that you've got to catch it over lunch time cause they're not open on weekends!

Wafuken sells Japanese style Western food and they are located at Asia Square Tower 2! I went over during lunch and man, finding seats can really be a challenge. Queues were really long at the stalls too. :(

While queuing, I had a really hard time trying to decide what to order. Everything looks good and even better you could make your own bento - just the way you like it!

So this is how it goes...

FIRST, you choose a protein. So proteins cost you $4 for a half breast to $30 for a full steak. There's also fish for you to choose.

SECOND, if you're a lazy bum like me, you can choose their don at $4. Comes with onsen egg, daikon pickles, Furikake Brown Rice or White rice. Then you're done with your meal!

ELSE, you could choose from a range of carbs sides from pasta, potato salad and rice and add on other sides such as Onsen Egg, Steam Broccoli, Sweet Corn, Tobiko and Truffle Oil. All sides range about $1.50 to $2.

I didn't list out the entire menu, but if you want to see what else is there for you, here you go.

So after much much consideration, I decided on a feast.

Truffle Wagyu Rump $20 Half Steak
Sous vide Wagyu steak seasoned with truffle salt and perfumed with black winter truffle oil
Topped up with $4 Don to complete the meal

Honestly, it's not everyday I eat like that but once in a while for a treat would be totally worth it. It was really good, portion was just right and I finished up everything! Happy tummy, happy me!

Companion decided to have hers the way she wants it. Half breast, pasta with tomato sauce and Roasted Baby Potatoes. This bowl would cost you $10.

Though it was a rushed lunch due to the peak hours and we only had an hour to eat. It was still a good meal. Definitely if I'm nearby Asia Square I would drop by Wafuken for lunch! Kinda miss their don already. The other time when I finished my meal I was thinking to myself that the next time I'd try the salmon.

Till then!
