Travelogue: 6 Places to Eat in Busan for 3D2N

Heading to Busan for the first time and not sure what's there to eat? Well, we didn't know what was installed for us either. We basically took a leap of faith and tried any stall/restaurant that looked promising to us. Thankfully, everything was delicious and affordable!

To make things easier for you, I've compiled the list of restaurants/food we tried!

*Disclaimer: Googlemap in Korea isn't exactly the best you could rely on so.. some of the addresses... I really can't find them. But hopefully with the bits of information I gathered would help you.

윤하김밥 Yunha Gimbap

Address: -
Nearest Station: Toseong Station, Exit 10 (Restaurant just on the right after you exit at exit 10)
Opening Hours: 10:00 to 22:00
Price Range: 2,000 ~ 3,000won

Left: Tuna, Right: Cheese Gimbap

We went there for Gamcheon Cultural Village and because we were too hungry to travel to anywhere else for dinner, we decided to just try this out. It turns out to be really awesome. We had spicy rice cake, gimbap and ramen. Which all tasted really awesome but unfortunately I only managed to get this on picture. (I was so hungry, really.) If you're traveling to Gamcheon Cultural Village, you could visit this place. This eatery probably can only house 10-15 guest, but the food was really decent for the price we paid. Feels like a Korean home cooked feel.

김밥천국 Gimbap Cheonguk (Food Cafe)

Address: -
Nearest Station: Busan KTX Station (Opposite Busan KTX)
Opening Hours: 24 Hours
Price Range: 2,000 ~ 6,500won

Didn't managed to snap any food photos except for the the video above. I totally love the Cheese Ramen at just 3,500 won! We actually went to Brown Hands Cafe (which is just behind from Food Cafe) but we realised that Brown Hands don't sell any mains so we decided to have a proper lunch before we go over to Brown Hands for desserts and drinks.

Brown Hands Cafe (Nearby Food Cafe)

Address: 16, Jungang-daero 209beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan
Nearest Station: Busan KTX Station (Opposite Busan KTX)
Opening Hours: 10:00 to 23:00 daily
Price Range: 2,000 ~ 6,500won

Drinks: 6,800won~ Cakes: 7,000~

Pretty spacious cafe that has ample seating space. Great place to OOTD! Okay, that's not the main point though but the cakes were delicious too. Though pricey but we enjoyed the overall atmosphere, taking ALOT of OOTDs and taking a slower pace in starting out first full day in Busan.

Something like that. Hahahaha.

한신포차 Hansin Pocha

Address: -
Nearest Station: Jagachi Station
Opening Hours: 10:00 to 23:00 daily
Price Range: 2,000 ~ 6,500won

With completely no English menu and none of the waiters speaking any English, we stepped in this restaurant. It looks like they have alot of different outlets in Korea, so you can try and check it out their website. Here's some of the dishes we ordered... If you don't know what to order, just order what we did. We asked what were the few hot favourite dishes and these were recommended to us.

Anyway, notice the bowl of bean sprout at the corner right? That's complimentary, and all you have to do is just stir it, and eat it. The soup is not bad too. 3 dishes was more than enough for us over a bottle of HITE beer. Yums!
Credits to their online menu website:

Tomato Soseu Gyeranmari (Tomato Sauce Egg Roll)

Gimchi Jeongol (Kimchi Hotpot)

Chijeu Dwaeji Gochujang Babekyu (Cheese Pork Gochujang BBQ) Okay you must-order-this!

초량밀면 Choryang Milmyeon

Address: South Korea, Busan, Dong-gu, 초량동 363-2
Nearest Station: Busan KTX Station
Opening Hours: 10:00 to 23:00 daily
Price Range: 2,000 ~ 6,500won

They don't have any English menu so..... here's the translation below: (I hope I am right, lol please let me know if I'm not.)
물밀면 Mul Milmyeon - Soup Milmyeon (the one we had)
비빔밀면 Bibim Milmyeon (dried noodles, could be a little spicy)
해물칼국수 Haemul kalguksu - seafood-knife noodles
왕만두 Wangmandu - dumplings MUST-ORDER-THIS
사리Sari - add noodles

If you come to Busan this is something you MUST try. Milmyeon are cold noodles served with ice cubes. It's not that spicy (for the cold one at least) so don't be alarmed at the red paste. Overall I enjoyed the cold noodles even though it was cold. (But I am someone who loves cold soba so might not be the same as you) while the girls didn't quite like it as much. But but, you should still try one time! The dumplings on the other hand was very awesome, you must order them! There are dried noodles too but we didn't order it. You could try 1 dry 1 soup 1 dumpling should be a complete experience!

Twin Pork Soup (쌍둥이 돼지국밥)

Address: 887-1 Daeyeon 1(il)-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, South Korea
Nearest Station: Daeyeon Station, Exit 3
Opening Hours: 10:00 to 00:00 daily
Price Range: -

This was something we listed to try out in Busan but we didn't managed to go. Am still sharing this place for you to go. Can't comment anything but maybe you can go to this blog or this blog to see the photos posted by this blogger. (They are blogged in Korean but it's okay, just see the photos and decide if you want to give this place a go.)

***

So basically this is what we had in Busan for the time we stayed there. Might not be the most comprehensive list you could find online but hopefully this helped you with your planning!

Travelogue: Itinerary summary of 11 Days to South Korea (Busan, Daegu & Seoul) in March 2017

HOWDY.

Yes, I've gone missing again. Was away almost the entire December last year to Japan and Taiwan. Finished up my Japan post and took a little break from this space. Work has been pretty drowning even though I haven't been flying!

So..... I just got back from South Korea with my awesome girlfriends and all ready to share my trip with you!

Before I proceed, I would like to do a shoutout to my #RACEtokorea girls for being such awesome travel partners! Photographs, memories and details in this blog are also contributed by these beautiful ladies. This post technically could never happen without them. Love you all, and thank you for the beautiful memories in Korea!

Why #RACEtokorea? Because that's the initial of our names!

R.A.C.E right in sync in this photo! (Taken after a midnight flight, onboard train to Busan)

Now, let's go to the details straight away!

*Disclaimer:  Everything is based on my own experience in my own words which may differ from yours. What's good for me, might not suit you.

****

FLIGHT

We booked Korean Air via Zuji and got a really good deal. On top of 5% discount from OCBC, we got an additional 23KG baggage extra each! (Which was really, the life saver. I came back with 41kg by the way. Ha!) We each paid SGD 709. (after the discount)

Nothing extraordinary from a normal commercial flight with inflight service and meals etc. Probably the Bibimbap on flight was awesome. You should totally try it.

ACCOMMODATION

We booked Hotels for Busan and Daegu, Airbnb for Seoul. Allynn and Eileen did a very thorough scan through of a lot of hotels prior to making the few choices below. May not be the best but it was definitely worth the money we paid for. Basically we enjoyed all our accommodations.

Busan Hotel
My Comments: Pictures on the website was deceiving and we felt like we got cheated cause it looked so different from what we were expecting. But as the nights went, we began to like our hotel room. It was spacious, clean and really near the MRT exit. It could get a little noisy at night but it's not too bad. I just feel the toilet was a little too big, that space could well be part of our room instead.
Hotel Name: S Hotel
Nearest MRT: Seomyeon MRT, Exit 15
Price: SGD 88 per night (based on 1 room) | SGD 44 per night/pax
Total: SGD 132/pax for 3 nights
Website: https://www.agoda.com/s-hotel-seomyun/hotel/busan-kr.html?checkin=2017-03-23&los=3&adults=4&rooms=1&cid=-1&searchrequestid=dd7e2a79-9877-4037-af1a-b86d5629b199
Actual:

Daegu Hotel
My Comments: It looked really promising on the outside but actually the room was just decent. Better the one in Busan, but the pillow was tad too soft. It's like you're not lying on any pillow at all! So we had to request for harder pillows from the concierge.
Hotel Name: Daegu Prince Hotel
Nearest MRT: Namsan or Myeongdeok MRT
Price: SGD 118 per night (based on 1 room) | SGD 59 per night/pax
Total: SGD 177/pax for 3 nights
Website: https://www.agoda.com/kensington-prince-hotel-daegu/hotel/daegu-kr.html?checkin=2017-03-26&los=3&adults=2&rooms=1&cid=-1&searchrequestid=621188de-5db7-42e3-954a-6c43cf61e262

Seoul Airbnb
My Comments: Best thing about this apartment is it looked actually like it promised hahaha. Of course it was my favourite because we got to stay together under a single roof. Though the hassle was 1 toilet but it wasn't really a hinderance. We were systematic and organised! Kind of miss that 'waking up' sequence with the girls. Just like any other Airbnb, no cleaning services until you leave, so you've got to do your own clean up. Just that the rubbish throwing part is annoying. You've got to separate out the thrash BUT no thrash bag was provided for us. Oh well.
Apartment Name: BHOME008
Nearest MRT: Hongik University Station (closer to AREX station)
Price: SGD 192 per night (entire apartment) | SGD 48 per night/pax
Total: SGD 192/pax for 4 nights
Website: https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/12214508?checkin=29-03-2017&checkout=02-04-2017&guests=4&adults=4&children=0&infants=0&s=4tWWp4TG

TRANSPORTATION

Getting around Busan, Daegu and Seoul isn't too tough with an ez-link (it's called T-money there). Just that topping up cards in Busan and Daegu can be a little tricky as you can only top up (they call it recharge) at convenience store 7-11/GS25 etc. Seoul has no problem though.

This is the APP that helped us a lot this time round which Allynn found.

You can select which state's metro to look at. Don't know where to go? You can check out their 'Hot Places' and see what's recommended.

Shows you the line to transfer, the price and time taken.

This isn't the only APP available for metro, others would work well too just that this round this is what we tried.

Expenses
Metro: 55,000won, SGD 70 (All cities uses the same card regardless of metro or bus)
Tour Bus: 30,000won, SGD 38 (Used in Busan)
KTX: 127,600, SGD 163
72,100won, SGD 92 (To Busan) | 12,000won, SGD 15 (To Daegu) | 43,500won, SGD 56 (To Seoul)
Total: SGD 271~
